One of the biggest travel ball destinations in the Southeast has a new owner, and it's a company that already knows the place. Capacity Sports Group now owns the 78-acre LakePoint Sports property in Emerson, Georgia, just outside Atlanta, and holds a lease to operate its Champions Center indoor pavilion, according to the company's October 14 announcement. The price was not disclosed.

What Capacity Sports Group Gets at LakePoint

The deal covers the Baseball Village, with eight major league-sized synthetic turf fields, and Publix Fields, three multiuse turf fields for soccer, lacrosse and football that can be split into 12 flag football fields. The leased Champions Center is 170,000 square feet and holds 12 basketball courts or 24 volleyball courts.

Capacity was formed in January through the merger of Prep Baseball and Bullpen Ventures. Prep Baseball has run events at LakePoint since 2019, including its National Program Invitational, National Championships and Future Games, so the baseball calendar there is not going anywhere.

Prep Baseball's Parent Is on a 2026 Buying Spree

LakePoint follows five acquisitions since Capacity launched, per Youth Sports Business Report. It bought Play9 Sports in March, then United Sports, YSC Sports, Sideline Soccer Solutions and Flag Football Life in April. The plan for LakePoint follows that map: Flag Football Life tournaments on the turf, more volleyball and basketball in the Champions Center through brands like Ryze Hoops, and Prep Baseball's scouting, profile and video tools pushed into other sports.

CEO Ken Kocher told Youth Sports Business Report that each sport needs its own leaders, and that on deals, "The fit matters more than the structure."

For families, the practical change is a single operator running baseball, softball, flag football, volleyball and basketball events on one campus. Expect a busier, more multisport LakePoint schedule in 2027. Find tournaments near you on the BallerTube events hub.
