Girls flag football is getting the same kind of showcase that basketball and tackle football recruits have had for decades. State Farm will sponsor Overtime's first girls flag football All-American game, planned for summer 2027 with NBC Sports, Marketing Brew reported on Tuesday.

The game will bring together top high school flag players from around the country. No date, city or venue has been announced.

What the State Farm and Overtime Deal Includes

The flag game is part of an extended agreement between the two companies, now in their sixth straight year together. According to Marketing Brew:

  • State Farm stays on with Overtime Elite and Overtime Select in basketball, and with OT7, Overtime's 7-on-7 football league.
  • State Farm becomes presenting sponsor of the Girls Flag All-American Team selection, which will be promoted on Overtime's channels and during NBC Sports coverage of the Navy All-American Bowl and the OT7 championship.
  • For the first time, the deal adds an NIL piece: State Farm will do content deals with Overtime athletes across sports.

Overtime president of content and media Marc Kohn told the outlet that State Farm got first look at the flag sponsorship because of the long relationship. State Farm's Kristyn Cook said the company was excited to be "in at the ground level of something that's net-new."

How the Girls Flag Football All-American Team Is Picked

NBC Sports and Overtime first announced the All-American team in June. Per NBC Sports, players are judged on their play, their work in the classroom and their impact in their communities. Selected athletes get official All-American recognition, features on NBC Sports and Overtime platforms, mentions during the Navy All-American Bowl and OT7 broadcasts, and jersey presentations in their hometowns in the spring.

Girls Flag Football's Growth Ahead of LA28

The timing tracks with the sport's climb. Flag football makes its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, and state associations keep adding it. In Texas, the UIL voted on Monday to build a girls flag football pilot for 2028-29, with about 25 states expected to sanction the sport by fall 2027, per TownTalk Radio.

Kohn told Marketing Brew more activations around the game are likely but not finalized. Watch for the selection criteria, the roster and a host city to come out before next summer. More on the sport lives on BallerTube's girls flag football page.
