Germany didn't let the home crowd get going. The Germans led host Morocco 3-0 by halftime and won 4-2 on Tuesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale, clinching a place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup with a game to spare.

Marie Kleemann scored in the 27th minute, Lena Martens added another seven minutes later, and Clara Choisy made it 3-0 in first-half stoppage time, according to Hespress. Mia Giesen converted a penalty early in the second half. Nessma Mouradi scored both Morocco goals, the second a stoppage-time penalty, per FIFA's match centre.

Germany Clinches Group A at the U-17 Women's World Cup

Germany is 2-0 after coming from behind to beat Argentina 2-1 in its opener. Two wins give Sabine Loderer's team six points, and the head-to-head tiebreaker means nobody can catch it for the group's top spot, as Bulinews reported via Yahoo Sports. Germany finishes group play against New Zealand on Friday.

Morocco vs. Argentina on Friday: What the Hosts Need

The loss stings, but Morocco's tournament isn't over. The Atlas Lionesses opened with a 4-0 win over New Zealand, so they sit second in Group A on three points with a plus-two goal difference. Argentina also has three points after beating New Zealand 2-0 on Tuesday, but trails on goal difference.

That sets up Friday, October 23, as a straight shootout in Group A: Morocco against Argentina, with second place on the line. The top two teams in each of the six groups reach the round of 16, along with the four best third-place teams, so even the loser may have a path.

A Second Straight Year Hosting the U-17 Women's World Cup

The knockout round begins October 28. Catch up on the tournament through FIFA on BallerTube and the BallerTube soccer page.
