Before the rankings. Before the recruiting conversations. Before any college decision. Every hooper's story starts in the same place: the local gym. Coaches who invest, teammates who push, family that shows up, and a kid willing to keep showing up, too.
For Taylor Englebert, a sixth-grade guard out of New Jersey in the Class of 2033, that road has already taken her from community ball to the heart of Times Square. Now she's starting a new chapter with Jersey Shore Elite for the Fall 2026 season.
The Foundation
Taylor's roots run through St. Stan's of Parlin. That's where she worked her way up from intramural basketball into CYM competition. Along the way, she picked up All-Star nominations and won the Central Jersey 3-Point Competition.
St. Stan's is still a big part of who she is. It's her connection to the coaches, teammates, and community that introduced her to competitive basketball, and it's a program she kept repping as more opportunities came her way.
And she hasn't taken the easy route. Since fourth grade, Taylor has been playing up against older competition. That means faster pace, more physical matchups, and higher expectations. Every one of those games has been a chance to learn against tougher competition.
Hooping in Times Square
One of Taylor's most memorable moments on the court came at the Times Square Takeover 3-on-3 tournament in Manhattan.
Representing St. Stan's, she competed in the Girls' 7th Grade Division as an incoming sixth grader. Picture it: courts set up in the middle of Times Square and Broadway, a long way from the usual school gym.
For Taylor, it was one more shot at older competition, and one more chance to rep the community where it all started.
Learning Across the Grassroots Scene
Taylor's résumé also includes Sayreville Spartans travel basketball, plus girls' programs including Matawan Lady Huskies, Stars of AMAYA, MSK Hawks, Shore Aces, Lady Bulldogs, and NJ ShoreShots.
Every stop brought new coaches, new teammates, and new competitive experiences to her development.
The work doesn't stop when team practice ends. Taylor has trained with Bryan Hart and Damian Knowlin of I'm Possible, Geo Baker, Gary Linton and Zach Leach of Hoop Lab.
Camps have given her even more reps. She earned a Toughness Award at the Sayreville War Memorial High School co-ed basketball camp and won the Elbow-to-Elbow Shooting Competition at Jersey Shore Elite's summer camp.
All of it adds up to the foundation she keeps building as a young guard.
New Chapter: Jersey Shore Elite
Taylor joins Jersey Shore Elite for the Fall 2026 season, and it's another page in her basketball story.
New team, new environment, new lessons, and more chances to grow through practices and games. What comes next will be shaped by the everyday grind: learning, competing and contributing alongside her teammates.
Her journey has already been covered by MSN, The Source, and BreakingAC, and she has a player profile on Prep Girls Hoops and BallerTube.
Her family documents the ride on Instagram at @TaylorBballEnglebert, YouTube at @taylorbballenglebert, and most recently Ballertube, sharing footage and milestones as her story unfolds.
A Family That Believes
Taylor's father, John Englebert, believes she has the potential to become a college scholarship athlete and a rising star in girls' basketball. Backing her development and documenting these early chapters is a big part of that family commitment.
For the BallerTube grassroots community, Taylor's story is a look at where it all begins: local programs, dedicated coaches, tough competition and a family helping a young player chase her goals.
And the next chapter starts where so many basketball stories do: back in the gym.
Discipline Today. Dominate Tomorrow.
