The Florida Panthers did plenty on Tuesday night in Ottawa. They landed 42 hits to the Senators' 25 and spent 44 minutes in the penalty box. What they did not do was control the puck, and the Ottawa Senators took a 5-1 win out of it.

Ottawa won 33 of 53 faceoffs, a 62 percent night, outshot Florida 30-19 and blocked 16 shots, according to ESPN's box score. Jake Sanderson, the Senators' top defenseman, did not score but had a hand in two goals and logged 22:36 of ice time, the most of any Ottawa skater.

Six Goals, Five of Them Ottawa's

Florida scored first. Brady Tkachuk's power-play wrist shot 10 minutes into the game, set up by Matthew Tkachuk and Seth Jones, was the Panthers' only goal on five man advantages. Tim Stutzle answered at 14:13 of the first off feeds from Sanderson and Stephen Halliday.

The second period decided it. Claude Giroux scored at 9:34 and Shane Pinto made it 3-1 at 17:18, Sanderson assisting again. In the third, Warren Foegele scored from Dylan Cozens and Drake Batherson, then Halliday finished his night with a goal of his own at 14:57, Stutzle assisting. Halliday and Stutzle each had a goal and an assist.

The Goalies
