Carrollton has been winning by an average of 44 points. Friday night in Atlanta is the first time in a while that number could come down. The No. 10 team in the MaxPreps national Top 25 visits Westlake at 7:30 p.m. in Georgia's 7A Region 2, in a game High School On SI calls the Trojans' biggest region test of the season. GPB is carrying it.
No. 10 Carrollton (8-0) at Westlake (6-1)
MaxPreps' matchup data puts Carrollton at 451 points scored and 97 allowed, an average of 56.4 points for and 12.1 against. The Trojans have topped 60 points five times, including a 61-27 road win at Baton Rouge Catholic in September, and quarterback CJ Cypher threw for 315 yards and five touchdowns in last week's 62-13 win over Northgate, per High School On SI.
Westlake is 6-1 and No. 15 in High School On SI's Georgia rankings. The Lions score too, 46.4 points a game, but give up 26.6, and they needed a one-point win over East Coweta last week. Carrollton plays that same East Coweta team on Oct. 30.
No. 3 Buford (7-0) at Mill Creek
Buford, Georgia's top-ranked team, shut out Collins Hill 43-0 last week. Mill Creek started 0-4 but has won three straight. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
No. 15 Hamilton (7-0) vs. Liberty
In Arizona, Hamilton of Chandler has outscored opponents 278-80, with shutouts of Arbor View (44-0) and Valley Vista (59-0) and a 34-13 win over Pinnacle last week, according to its MaxPreps schedule. Peoria Liberty brings a three-game winning streak, per MaxPreps' weekly Top 25 preview.
No. 6 Columbus (8-1) vs. Northwestern
Miami Columbus beat Miami Central 28-3 for the GMAC title last week. The same MaxPreps preview says a win over Northwestern secures the Explorers a spot in Florida's first FHSAA Open Division bracket.
