Flag Focus returns for one final episode from the IFAF Flag Football World Championships 2026 in Düsseldorf, Germany — after a Finals Day that delivered new World Champions, Olympic qualification drama and a fitting end to an extraordinary week of flag football. Canada Women produced the result of the day, stunning USA in the final to claim the World Championship crown and complete a remarkable tournament. In the Men’s Championship, USA returned to the top of the world, overcoming Italy in the final to add yet another IFAF World title to their collection. But the drama went far beyond the gold medal games. Canada Men pulled off a huge upset against heavily fancied Mexico in the bronze medal game, claiming the final Olympic qualification spot available in Düsseldorf after Italy had secured theirs by reaching the final. And, once again, Mexico Women took it all the way to the wire. After a tournament filled with incredibly tight finishes, they edged GB in another thriller to take bronze — and, crucially, secure the remaining Olympic qualification place available here. The numbers tell their own story. 42% of games at these World Championships were decided by one score, underlining just how competitive international flag football has become — while record-breaking viewing figures showed that more people than ever were watching. In this final episode: * IFAF President Pierre Trochet joins us for a walk-in interview as we reflect on the Championships and the continued growth of flag football * We look at the record-breaking viewing numbers generated across the tournament * 42% of games were one-score contests — a remarkable indication of the depth and competitiveness of the international game * Canada Women stun USA to become IFAF World Champions * USA Men return to winning ways and claim another World Championship title * Italy’s run to the Men’s final secures their place at the LA28 Olympic Games * Canada Men upset favourites Mexico in the bronze medal game to grab the remaining Olympic qualification spot * Mexico Women survive yet another thriller, beating GB for bronze and securing their place at LA28 * We round up the biggest moments, performances and stories from an unforgettable IFAF Flag Football World Championships Six episodes.
