Learn how to defend today's explosive passing attacks with Jason Denton, defensive coordinator at St. James Academy in Kansas and a key part of the program's back-to-back 2020 and 2021 Kansas Class 4A state championships. Denton breaks down a complete defensive coverage system designed to challenge quarterbacks, disguise intentions and eliminate dangerous passing concepts. The session covers multiple coverage structures, including Cover 4, Cover 6, Cover 3 and Cover 12, while explaining when and why each coverage can be effective. The instruction goes beyond scheme. Denton also demonstrates defensive back drills designed to develop the technique, recognition and fundamentals DBs need to execute these coverages in live-game situations. For defensive coordinators, position coaches and defensive backs looking to better understand modern pass defense, this session connects the coverage call to the technique required to make it work.
