Authorities in Polk County, Florida arrested eight youth football players from Philadelphia after they were caught stealing more than $2,000 worth of merchandise from a Dick’s Sporting Goods just hours before their championship matchup. The players, ages 14 and 15, were in Florida to compete for a national title but now face felony retail theft and conspiracy charges. While coaches say the boys acted without their knowledge, the incident devastated the team’s season and left the remaining players heartbroken as they took the field without several key contributors. Officials say all eight players must return to Florida to face charges.
