Two games into the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco, United States forward Maddie DiMaria has 10 goals. She scored six in the 17-0 win over Samoa on Oct. 19 and four more in a 6-1 win over Kenya on Oct. 22, and no player had ever scored more than eight in a single U-17 Women's World Cup.

The four against Kenya came in the first half: two from open play and two from the penalty spot, the last in first-half stoppage time for a 4-0 lead at the break. Loradana Paletta and Gianna Hanf scored after halftime, and Lindey Atieno got Kenya's goal late, according to the match report from U.S. Soccer carried by SoccerWire.

Maddie DiMaria's Records So Far

Her six against Samoa set a record for goals in one game by a U.S. player at any age level, and her 10 match Michelle Akers' 1991 total for the most by a U.S. player in any FIFA Women's World Cup tournament, per SoccerWire. FIFA notes she is only the fourth woman to reach double figures at a global finals, after Akers, Germany's Alexandra Popp and Canada's Christine Sinclair. Counting the 2025 tournament, she has 11 career U-17 World Cup goals, also a U.S. record.

DiMaria is committed to North Carolina, according to Tar Heel Tribune. The next-highest scorer at the tournament has six.

China Next, With Group E on the Line

The U.S., coached by Ciara Crinion, and China both have six points and are both through to the round of 16. A win or draw against China gives the U.S. the Group E title, and one more DiMaria goal would pass Akers. SoccerWire lists the match for Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Eastern on FS2, Peacock and Telemundo Deportes, at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé.
