Green Bay never sent the same man twice. Six different Packers sacked Bryce Young on Thursday night, and linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper did a little of everything around them: eight tackles, a sack, an interception, three passes defensed and two quarterback hits.
The Packers beat the Carolina Panthers 27-19 at Lambeau Field to improve to 5-3. Carolina fell to 3-4.
Ty'Ron Hopper's Night and a Rush That Never Repeated Itself
Hopper, Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Brenton Cox Jr. and Devonte Wyatt each had one sack, and the six cost Carolina 33 yards, per the ESPN box score. Cox also recovered a fumble. Carolina converted 5 of 18 third downs and averaged 3.7 yards per play. Young finished 23 of 41 for 209 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Jordan Love Was Never Touched
On the other side, Carolina did not sack Jordan Love once. He went 30 of 41 for 288 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Christian Watson caught eight passes for 113 yards, and Matthew Golden (24 yards), Tucker Kraft (12) and Josh Jacobs (4) caught the touchdown passes. Green Bay was 3 for 3 in the red zone and 9 of 16 on third down. Jacobs also ran for a score, though it took him 21 carries to get 39 yards.
The Packers lost three turnovers and still never trailed after the second quarter. Carolina got within eight on Jalen Coker's 26-yard touchdown catch with 5:37 left, but the two-point try failed. Chuba Hubbard ran 22 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Fitzgerald made field goals of 39 and 50 yards.
