Nashville is 21-7-3 with 70 points and a plus-43 goal difference through 31 games, first in the Eastern Conference, per ESPN's standings. Montreal, last in the East, fell to 6-7-18 in front of 13,016.

Sam Surridge Scored, Then Montreal's Keeper Did It for Them

The first half was scoreless. Sam Surridge broke through in the 51st minute with a left-footed finish from close range. In the 76th minute, the second goal went into Montreal's own net: ESPN's match log credits an own goal to Montreal goalkeeper Samsy Keita, who had made three saves.

Nashville had 56 percent of the ball and completed 405 passes to Montreal's 321, but it was Schwake's clean sheet that held the result. Montreal also won 14 tackles to Nashville's eight and made 14 interceptions. Nashville did not need volume: it took eight shots all night, half of them on target, and scored on one of them itself.
