Hofstra University is adding two Olympic sports. The Long Island school announced Oct. 26 that men's and women's swimming and diving will join its NCAA Division I lineup and begin competing in the 2027-28 academic year, per Hofstra's announcement.
Both teams will compete in the Coastal Athletic Association. With Hofstra in, the CAA will sponsor six men's and nine women's swimming and diving programs.
Hofstra Swim Center and a Coaching Search That Starts Now
The teams will train and compete at the Hofstra University Swim Center, which has an Olympic-size pool and four diving boards. A national search for coaches begins immediately, and so does recruiting. No coaches have been named.
The additions bring Hofstra to 23 varsity programs. The last new sports were men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field in 2019. Hofstra President Susan Poser said the move "creates new opportunities for talented student-athletes."
